The third edition of the Indian Geospatial Market Report was launched in New Delhi by Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Shri Prithviraj Chavan. The launch coincided with the two day conference on Geospatial Technologies for Utilities and Infrastructure held at FICCI Hall. Speaking on the importance of geospatial industry he said, “GIS will become a huge industry in its own right and will not be an appendage of IT.”   

The market report for 2009 was a joint effort by Geospatial Today and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). To present the facts in a scientific and systematic way, Geospatial Today tied up with IMRB, a market research company to carry out the Geospatial Industry Survey 2009.  Mr Harsh Pati Singhania, President, FICCI, said. “Geospatial technology plays an important role and we cannot ignore it. Geospatial data is a valuable tool during disasters and is helpful in knowing recent trends and future projections, for operational challenges and for business and industry.”
